Roscommon County Community Foundation visited St. Vincent de Paul in Prudenville to present a grant of $5600. The money has been used to provide food for the food pantry, help with housing, help with utilities, and other emergency needs for those in need. The food pantry and help center is open Tuesday through Friday 10am to 2pm at St. Vincent de Paul, 329 W West Branch Rd, Prudenville, MI 48651, where they serve Roscommon County residents. No appointments needed.
The Roscommon County General fund of the Roscommon County Community Foundation is funded through many sources, including The cornerstone Fund, Marilyn Brown Memorial Fund, and the Morley Family foundation Fund. It has been a blessing to St. Vincent, as well as many other agencies in the area.

St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is an international voluntary organization in the Catholic Church, founded in 1833 for the sanctification of its members by personal service of the poor. The Our Lady of the Lake Conference was formed in 1985. We currently have 70 members, both Catholic and non-Catholic.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that societies of apostolic life are made up of lay people who do not make public religious vows, but are dedicated to the service of the people around them. These societies arise because the founder (in this case Frederic Ozanam, inspired by the works of St. Vincent de Paul) had seen a need in the world: to serve the poor.
St. Vincent de Paul, Our Lady of the Lake Conference, has been providing services to our community since 1985. Many churches and other non-profit organizations refer people in need to our conference for food, shelter, clothing, diapers, utilities, and other emergency needs. Our Mission is "a network of friends, inspired by Gospel Values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need" and our goal is to see the face of Christ in those we serve and help the less fortunate in times of need, either directly or through referrals. Currently, we have a food bank, diaper bank, give vouchers for clothing and household items, and help with utilities, housing, and emergency needs. This is possible through donations, grants, and proceeds from our thrift store.
